Four Seasons Langkawi
Everything about Four Seasons Langkawi screams luxury and comfort. Designed as a ‘village’ of pavilions, pools and beautiful, landscaped gardens, with well-spaced and private villa accommodation, this resort is spacious yet intimate. Personal service is the byword here with very friendly staff greeting you by name and always anxious to please. Guests receive flowers and a refreshing fruit punch while your host explains all of the facilities and amenities available at the resort, before you are driven to your accommodation (with welcome champagne and strawberries) in a resort buggy. (Buggies are always available for guests’ use walking between facilities means that you take full advantage of the outstanding scenery and Asian/Moorish architecture).
All villas and pavilion accommodations are spacious and beautiful with high ceilings, huge marble and wood bathrooms – complete with an amazing Arabic bath, filled every night with rose petals – and private, cushioned verandas or terraces. Downstairs Pavilion rooms are particularly recommended to families – larger families can take an entire Pavilion. Villas are truly amazing, with their own pools and spa areas; Beach Villas are 220m2 while the largest villa, the Royal, is an astonishing 1400m2.
Both of the infinity swimming pools overlook the beach; the family pool is surrounded by tropical palms with water cascades to play under and ‘secret’ corners to explore while the quiet pool is exclusively for the grown ups, offering complete privacy – even from adjoining loungers! Regular pool (and beach) service includes iced water, fruit and home-made lollies and ice creams.
As well as the pools and beach, take a buggy to the tennis court, boutiques and souvenir shops, library, restaurants and fantastic Spa. With treatment gazebos and a relaxation area around a calming ‘lake’, the Spa offers a full range of treatments including Ayervedic and Chinese therapies and wonderful (and if you like, synchronised) massages, yoga and meditation. The resort also has a fitness room and range of water sports.
There are three restaurants; in addition to the main restaurant – Serai (which means lemongrass in Malay) – serving southern Italian and Mediterranean specialities; enjoy freshly caught fish and seafood under the stars at Ikan-Ikan. Your children will particularly enjoy the more relaxed atmosphere and child friendly menus of Kafe Kelapa. Rhu Bar, on the beach, is great for families; relax on giant ‘swing chairs’ and dip your feet in the cooling sea while the kids play pool or play on the beach. Service – from staff dressed in traditional Moorish garb – is sublime, as are the drinks and complementary nibbles!
