Although just 10 years old, this beautiful resort has an Old Colonial ambience - from the cool and airy reception area, with its high, fanned, ceilings and welcoming sofas through to the luxurious Ocean View suites, overlooking a mile-long sandy beach, fringed by tropical gardens. Inspired by turn of the century plantation houses, the architecture and décor of this elegant resort are the perfect blend of nostalgia with state of the art amenities. All of the main buildings are sited around the large pool (heated in winter) and terrace, with traditional wooden furniture and sun loungers. Complimentary fruit and water is offered pool-side by charming, traditionally-dressed staff.
There are three restaurants: the Dining Room, overlooking the pool, will satisfy the more discerning gourmet; light lunches are served at The Verandah, under the shade of beautiful white umbrellas. The Plantation - a beach-side planter’s house just a short distance from the resort - offers a wide range of seafood and other dishes, all cooked with local herbs and spices. There is also a fabulous bar, hung with engravings of scenes from Mauritian history, which offers everything from late breakfasts and afternoon tea to cocktails.
The divine, Zen-influenced, Sanctuary spa offers a wide range of treatments using La Prairie products as well as a separate sauna for men/women, well-equipped gym and spacious aerobic/yoga area (classes available). As well as providing a wide variety of water sports, the resort has a Dive Centre, floodlit tennis courts, volleyball court and 3 boutiques!
